Stories behind the patters
Experiences are my inspirations when I start to design patterns.
Travelling, my birthplace in the wild Northern Scandinavia and
the nature of Lapland. Those are my sources of creativity for
pattern design. In co-operation with Patterns from Finland we
present a collection of patterns that capture something about
the Finnish nature and Scandinavian forms. Patterns are
for sale and designed in collaboration with clients.
Yarn bombing for good cause
One thing lead to another and in summer 2015 I found myself setting up design
collective Concreatives together with designer Johanna Lauhiala. Our ideas were
to create dreams, work together and to make a difference. Concreatives collective
brings people, art and design together. We make creative social design projects
with innovative partners. Yarn bombing and other textile materials are used to
design environmental art that influences in a soft way and communicates current
issues. Collective’s goal is to make a difference through design and the power of
craftism. We strive to improve social and mental well-being and communication
between people. At the same time urban culture and environment is enriched.
Pilot project in autumn 2015 brought together people in Helsinki’s Kalasatama
and Vuosaari districts. In workshops we discussed individual dreams and
transformed them into two different environmental art pieces for metro stations.
Project’s main collaborators were art festival Taidelinja and Helsinki City
